We had another amazingly calm day on Clarence Strait, and the forecast cloudy skies manifested as scattered white puffs on a field of cerulean blue. On our way north, we stopped in at Coffman Cove, a small community on Prince of Wales Island. They have a really nice marina where we tied up Wild North. We walked around town, picked up some lunch at the burger joint, AK 49, and ate outside in the sun. I also mailed a birthday card at their post office for one of the daughters. With dock water available here, we were able to refill the water tanks, so tonight Ryan and I have been able to have showers for the first time in—well, a while.

The cruise north was uneventful - a few whales and porpoises spotted in the distance and a huge mirror-like waterway surrounded by hills and mountains in every direction.

We saw several seals in the islands around our anchorage. This one came to check us out.

On arriving in Exchange Cove, we took the dinghy down and explored the water around some of the many nearby islets. Lots of tiny fish flitted around under our tender and the seals watched us from afar. The shorelines looked promising for bears, but so far our ursine friends have proved elusive here.

Finally, an apology to people who signed up for notice of new posts and got a repeat notification for yesterday’s post. I accidentally deleted yesterday’s post this afternoon, and when I restored it, the system generated another email notification. Hopefully, that won’t happen again.
