We stayed in Devilfish Bay today, since the weather was not conducive to pleasure cruising. With the satellite dish working again intermittently (we’re on the edge of the coverage area), we took our time this morning, making a cooked breakfast, reading the news, and catching up on internet business. Once I changed out of my pajamas around noon (no judging), we upped anchor and nipped out to the mouth of the bay to pull the shrimp pot we had dropped on our way in last night. Earlier I had read a couple reviews which mentioned good shrimping there—and they were right! Woot! Woot! Anything more than one shrimp would have been a welcome change, but we hauled in 66 of those delicious pink babies.

Feeling flush with success, we quickly reloaded the bait barrel and dropped the pot for another overnight soak.

Back in Devilfish Bay, Ryan mounted two rod-holder brackets on the transom of the dinghy, so we can now troll for salmon from the dinghy. We gave it a test run this afternoon, but couldn’t manage to tempt any of the salmon we saw jumping around the boat.

It rained and gusted intermittently while we fished, so we came back wet and a little chilled, but quickly solved that by turning on the heater and pouring a couple glasses of wine. Tonight we had a seafood paella I made with shrimp, salmon, and halibut caught by us!

Tomorrow we will go caving in the El Capitan Cave on Prince of Wales Island.
