Day 108: Vancouver to Friday Harbor

Laurel

We’re back in Washington today. Crossing the Strait of Georgia was pretty rough and unpleasant. I’m not sure if we misread the forecast or just had a tide-wind conflict that whipped up the water, but the poor boat (and her passengers) got a pounding. When we got to the other side of the strait, we anchored in Lyall Harbour on Saturna Island to settle down, have a late lunch, and check the boat for things that might have been affected by the rough crossing.

After that it was a short hop planing to the border and across to Friday Harbor. We used the CBP Roam app again for a painless remote customs experience. We did have to stop by the customs dock in Friday Harbor to surrender our Canadian eggs, but we were planning to stop for the night there anyway, so that wasn’t a problem.

Friday Harbor Waterfront

It was a beautiful evening on San Juan Island. After anchoring, we walked up to San Juan Brewing Company for a couple beers and a pizza before returning to our anchorage to catch up with blog posts (me) and relax in the sun (Ryan) before bed.
