Today Ryan and I took a 55 mile looping cruise around the Desolation Sound area. Quite a bit of that time was spent in Toba Inlet, a fjord-like waterway leading up into the Pacific Ranges. Rain came and went, but the clouds caught in the trees like carded wool and gave everything a moody look. It’s the time of year for waterfalls here - and we saw many.

At the end of our day we looped back to Desolation Sound Provincial Marine Park and found a delightfully scenic anchorage in Prideaux Haven. Based on my reading, this park is normally packed with boats, but this early in the season there is only one other boat in the bay with us.

After anchoring, we quickly got the dinghy down and spent an hour exploring the rocky islets around the coast here. I love our Torqeedo electric outboard motor - much more relaxing than rowing and so quiet that even the harbor seals are barely bothered by our passing.
