Day 68: Leesoffskaia Bay to Kanga Bay

Weather was a bit better today - not as rainy, but still not the sunny days we had grown accustomed to in Glacier Bay.

A stormy looking start to the morning, looking out toward Mt Edgecumbe

We tried fishing for a while after we left Leesoffskaia Bay, but had no luck. With the fish not biting, we decided to try another hot spring, Goddard this time. We anchored right in front of the springs and, after finding the lower bathhouse too cool, climbed the hill to the upper bathhouse. There was another party already there, but they were just finishing up, so we explored the woods a little before moving in for a nice soak.

While waiting for the main pool, we discovered this very hot, rather muddy pool hiding in the woods
Mike found some salmon berries to snack on while we were exploring
We could keep an eye on the boat from the bath house

After we were suitably relaxed, we left the hot springs to the commercial fishing boat crew that arrived as we were leaving. We resumed our own fish hunting, but salmon was not destined to be on the menu this evening. Perhaps tomorrow. We moved Mike into his cabin this afternoon. It’s a really nice, new cabin overlooking Kanga Bay with a wood stove and lots of firewood. The cabin has a mooring buoy, so that’s where Ryan and I are tied up tonight.
